PROFESSIONAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
Karen A. McClintock holds a Ph.D. in Clinical
Psychology and is licensed by the Oregon Board of Licensed Psychologists.
She is a graduate of Pacific School of Religion with a Master
of Divinity Degree, and the Union Institute and University of
Cincinnati where she completed the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
In her practice she sees individuals, couples, and families.
Dr. McClintock's practice includes individuals age sixteen and
older and extends across the adult lifespan.
Dr. McClintock's specialty areas include
sexual shame, and other areas of human sexuality. She specializes
in family secrets, divorce, grief and loss issues, life transitions,
and couple's communication. She primarily uses Cognitive-Behavioral
theories and interventions in treatment along with psychoanalytical
theory, family systems theory, and pastoral counseling.
Services are provided at counseling offices
in Ashland and Medford. In addition to therapy, Dr. McClintock
provides assessment and testing for personality problems, intelligence,
and general psychological evaluation. Dr. McClintock provides
testing services for individuals, vocational rehabilitation,
and disability services. Her second language is American Sign
Language and she has studied Deaf culture.
Dr. McClintock is a consultant to congregations
in conflict resolution, leadership training, and spiritual retreats.
She provides consultation services to congregations, businesses,
and schools on issues of sexual boundaries, sexual harassment,
and abuse prevention. She is a published author and frequent
key-note speaker. Dr. McClintock's practice includes the supervision
of counseling interns. She is on the faculty at Southern Oregon
University teaching in the Psychology department.
Any counseling and supervision includes
an element of risk to clients. Most clients experience increased
hope and measurable change within the first few weeks of treatment.
Dr. McClintock fully complies with the legal mandates for practice
in the State of Oregon and ethical mandates of the American Psychological
Association. She is a member of the Oregon Psychological Association,
the American Counseling Association, and The Southern Oregon
Psychologists Association. She openly invites feedback about
